Alexandros Kyriakopoulos
Extended biography

Alexandros Kyriakopoulos is a Greek–Australian concert pianist, educator and interdisciplinary artist based in Boston. His work encompasses solo recitals, collaborations with dancers and choreographers, and performances bringing piano and live painting into the same space.

His earliest encounters with the piano took place in Australia. Raised on the Greek island of Kythera, he began lessons at five before continuing his musical education in Athens under the mentorship of Dimitri Toufexis. He later studied with Michael Lewin at Boston Conservatory at Berklee on scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. His earlier qualifications include piano, harmony and counterpoint.

He has performed across Europe, the United States and Australia, with appearances in Boston, New York and Puerto Rico and festival participation in Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic. His solo repertoire includes sonatas by Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Scriabin and Prokofiev, alongside the complete first book of Debussy’s Préludes and Schubert’s four Impromptus, Op. 90.

With Northeast Arts, he works with choreographers including Gianni Di Marco and Heather Nichols in productions that keep live piano at the centre of the stage. His collaboration with Catheline van den Branden brings painting into the duration of a recital: the audience follows the development of a canvas while hearing the piano programme. These projects form part of his continuing interest in artistic direction and in creating productions across disciplines.

His teaching in Boston and online serves children, teenagers and adults. Lessons connect technical development and study of the score with interpretation and performance preparation.
