Alexandros Kyriakopoulos is a Greek–Australian concert pianist and interdisciplinary artist based in Boston. His work begins at the piano and extends into the ways a performance is conceived, inhabited and shared.
From Kythera
to the concert stage.
His first encounters with the piano took place at an aunt’s home in Australia. He began lessons at five on Kythera, where he grew up. Returning to the island to perform has remained a thread through his studies and his life in Boston.
A move to Athens in his adolescence brought more intensive study and the mentorship of Dimitri Toufexis. At Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he studied with Michael Lewin on scholarship, that foundation developed into a sustained performing life. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, alongside earlier qualifications in piano, harmony and counterpoint.
His performances have taken him across Europe, the United States and Australia, with appearances in Boston, New York and Puerto Rico and at festivals including Virtuoso & Belcanto in Italy and Gijón in Spain. The music of Schubert, Chopin, Scriabin and Prokofiev holds a particular place in his work: repertoire in which formal discipline and emotional volatility can inhabit the same phrase.

His programmes place large-scale works beside shorter pieces with sharply defined characters. The complete Debussy Préludes, Book I, Schubert’s four Impromptus, Op. 90, and Prokofiev’s Ten Pieces from Romeo and Juliet form part of a solo repertoire developed across years of study and performance.
A solo recital, a salon performance with spoken introductions and a choreographed production require different kinds of preparation. His work moves between these settings, retaining the score as its point of reference while reconsidering how an audience encounters it.
Collaboration & the future
A wider
artistic life.
His collaborations bring the pianist into direct exchange with dancers, choreographers and visual artists. With Northeast Arts, live piano and choreography place musical phrasing beside the movement of the body. In his work with painter Catheline van den Branden, sound and painting emerge in the same space. Each artist responds in real time, leaving the audience close to the act of creation.
His longer ambition is to develop as an artistic director as well as a pianist: to originate productions and festivals in which music, dance, opera and the visual arts can be conceived together. He has spoken of eventually founding an arts organisation with a home for this work—a place where artists could develop new productions across disciplines and invite new audiences into the process. It is an aspiration that guides the collaborations he is building now.
Beyond the stage

Away from the piano, he returns to the sea. Diving is part of his life beyond the concert hall, and Kythera remains a place to return to between periods of study, teaching and performance.
